Eddie is the responsible for the maintenance of the Ruby Pier amusement park and a veteran of World War II. In a modern retelling of Tod Browning’s “Freaks” (1932), “Freakshow” tells the story of a group of criminals who chose to hide out by working security at a traveling circus. At first, they plot with an insider to steal the ticket sales, but the wily Lucy has bigger plans. She convinces the gang to let her seduce and marry the aging circus owner, Lon, in order to secure the entire circus fortune after he “suffers an accident”. “People die all the time,” Lucy says. The freaks are on to their scheme, however, and when the youngest of them is caught by the ruthless gang, they show no mercy to ensure her silence. When the circus folk find the child’s remains, they swear vengeance, and no one is safe from their fury—least of all, the wily Lucy.

While ostensibly on vacation with his wife and twelve children, famed detective Charlie Chan visits a circus at just the right time to become involved in the murder of one of the circus owners. Chan is prevailed upon to travel with the circus in hopes of discovering the killer before he, she - or it - strikes again.

Alarmed by a series of baffling suicides of prominent gamblers popularly dubbed “The Pajama Murders” by the newspapers, Holmes fakes his own death and assumes the identity of Rajni Singh, a retired Indian military man with a paralyzed arm. After losing a large sum in a casino and writing a bad check to cover his losses, he appears to try to take his own life. He is prevented by the mysterious and sophisticated Andrea Spedding with an offer of a loan with his life insurance policy as collateral. Shortly thereafter, there is an attempt on his life with a rare but deadly spider with the only other clue a child’s footprint. A resurfaced Holmes consults arachniolgists in an effort to solve the mystery.
