Young publishing executive Carly takes an apartment in an exclusive “sliver” building in New York, only to learn that the previous tenant, who bore a great resemblance to Carly, died in a mysterious fall from the apartment balcony. When other tenants of the building begin to die likewise mysteriously, Carly begins to suspect that a killer may be inhabiting the building and that it may be either Zeke, the voyeuristic building owner with whom she’s become involved romantically, or Jack, a mystery writer with a suspicious quality.

A small desert town has been harassed for months by a gang of drag racers, but so far no one has done anything to stop them. One day, a ghostly black car shows up, challenging members of the group to race, then killing them one by one. Neither the gang nor the police can catch the car or its driver, but some investigating into the gang’s past may reveal just who’s behind all this.

Potters Bluff, Rhode Island. may seem to be a sleepy little town. At least for the casual visitor and the local sheriff, Daniel Gillis. However, all of a sudden, there are a lot of strange murders where strangers or people passing through are killed by mobs of townspeople. Only Sheriff Gillis has no clue to what’s going on. Fortunately, the town has an excellent undertaker, William G. Dobbs, who is happy to take care of this sudden death-wave which is good for his business. Gillis soon discovers clues that lead to many of the local inhabitants involved in the killings, including his own wife Janet.

Solo buys a scrawny terrier who adds to his problems: the dog isn’t house-trained; Solo owes money to a thug who’s angry Solo’s spent money on a dog; at a dog park, the dog is bitten and Solo begs a woman he’s just met to pay the vet bill, so now he owes her; and, his friend Casper has introduced him to a persistent rich girl who decides she wants the dog. He could sell, settle his debts, and return to life with a clean carpet. Or, he could figure out why he doesn’t want to part with the dog.

In 2019, Lincoln Six Echo and Jordan Two Delta are best friends in a repressive and intriguing society, where everybody expects to win the lottery. The prize is to move to a paradisaical island outside the domes that protect the dwellers against the contaminated environment.
