Thousands of fans rallied to get Shawn back on their local station when the now defunct KZLA FM flipped in August of 2006. Even though New York and San Francisco lost country stations years earlier, without one returning, Parr's fans found that prospect unacceptable. And within less than five months from the lost of that station, Shawn Parr was back on the air. That moment is an historic event for the radio industry as a whole. You can find Shawn Parr as the wake-up voice on his morning show called "You're Up To Parr" Monday through Friday 5 AM to 10 AM on Go Country 105.1 FM radio covering San Diego, Orange Country, Los Angeles to Santa Barbara, California. His show can also be heard world wide streaming on "gocountry.am". Parr has a passion, as strong as his fan's enthusiasm for him, and a long-term involvement with country music. He is heavily involved with the Academy of Country Music and recently hosted the Academy's Bash in Irvine, California which starred Phil Vassar and Gretchen Wilson. Shawn Parr is a Southern Californian native. He grew up in Norwalk, California and attended John Glenn High School, spending a lot of his youth in the "O.C." (Orange County). He began his career at local dance venues and launched into his current career by becoming the warm-up personality for the TV show "Hot Country Nights." As the announcer for the Academy of Country Music Awards, KZLA brought him on board to do the Afternoon Drive which eventually lead him to the helm of the KZLA Morning Show and later to the Mid-day shift. His career also includes acting with roles in such films as "Lucky You" starring Robert Duvall, Drew Barrymore and Robert Downey, Jr. and "Waist Deep," starring Tyrese Gibson and Meaghan Good. Parr is also the famous voice of many awards shows such as the Golden Globes, the California Speedway, numerous television shows and commercials, voice-overs, and the American Music Awards for the 14th year in a row. In addition he does numerous public appearances, is on the Board of Directors for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and hosts his own annual golf tournament benefiting the John Tracy Clinic. Shawn is an avid golfer and has been a part of the Bob Hope Classic for a number of years. He has three children.
