The family of Raymond, his wife Val and her brother Billy live in working-class London district. Also in their family is Val and Billy’s mother Janet and grandmother Kath. Billy is a drug addict and Raymond kicks him out of the house, making him live on his own. Raymond is generally a rough and even violent person, and that leads to problems in the life of the family.

Two hundred and fifty years in the future, life as we know it is threatened by the arrival of Evil. Only the fifth element (played by Milla Jovovich) can stop the Evil from extinguishing life, as it tries to do every five thousand years. She is helped by ex-soldier, current-cab-driver, Corben Dallas (played by Bruce Willis), who is, in turn, helped by Prince/Arsenio clone, Ruby Rhod. Unfortunately, Evil is being assisted by Mr. Zorg (Gary Oldman), who seeks to profit from the chaos that Evil will bring, and his alien mercenaries.

The movie tells an intriguing story about dark and dangerous streets of Essex, where drug, guns, and murder are quite natural for many people. Jason Locke (Sean Bean) is a crime boss who gets out of jail and comes back to Essex so as to regain his power over the town’s criminal underworld. Locke is a half-psychotic, hot-tempered man who can kill anybody in his way without a moment’s thought, and besides, he is so suspicious that doesn’t trust even his wife, Lisa (Alex Kingstone).
