Lincoln Hawk (Stallone) is a struggling trucker who’s trying to rebuild his life. After the death of his ex-wife, he tries to make amends with his son who he left behind years earlier. Henry Perkins, a mild-mannered accountant, accidentally trades briefcases with another man, to find out that there’s a million dollars inside. Henry tells his unsuspecting wife of their new-found fortune, but she doesn’t embrace it as well as he does. On July 2nd, communications systems worldwide are sent into chaos by a strange atmospheric interference. It is soon learned by the military that a number of enormous objects are on a collision course with Earth. At first thought to be meteors, they are later revealed to be gigantic spacecraft, piloted by a mysterious alien species.
