show all Brian Delate is an underrated actor who is best known for his role in "The Truman Show (1998)", but is in fact very versatile. Born to parents Joe and Patricia Delate, he had an average childhood before serving in the Vietnam War, an event which forever changed his life. Upon his return, he discovered a strong interest in acting and joined various theatre groups, in which he is still prominent. In film, he has become picked for various cop roles, such as "The Shawshank Redemption (1994)" and "Far From Heaven (2002)", but should be noted for a variety of performances in independent films that have been neglected, such as "Home Before Dark (1997)", "Buffalo Soldiers (2001)", and "Ash Wednesday (2002)".
But his biggest role in a mainstream film to date has been "The Truman Show (1998)". In the role of Jim Carrey's father, who is believed dead but later reappears in the film, Delate found a chance for potential stardom. Unfortunately, many of his scenes, including a prominent one with baby Truman on the beach, ended up on the editing room floor, and thus his role was greatly decreased. Despite this, however, he still received a lead star credit in the film.
Being a war veteran has greatly impacted his life and his future projects have centered on writing and directing films about soldiers. Brian lives in the Poconos in Pennsylvania with his wife and daughter and is happy living a normal life.
