His mother, Lynette, is a nationally acclaimed Interior Designer, and Jack his father, a now retired business man, gave him an alternative outlook on life as he spent most of his childhood travelling with his family to numerous places throughout the world since the family home was broken at an early age from an earlier marridge.
At sixteen Ryan began working as an apprentice Ferrari Mechanic that lasted for eight years. During this timeframe he attended college where he earned himself a Higher National Diploma (HND & HNC) allowing him to become a licensed Technician. Towards the end of his time as a Technician, Ryan lent his talents to one of his favourite pastimes, Motorcycle Racing. Soon after, his level of racing had progressed to the highly competitive British Championships, unfortunately in 1998, a high speed crash nearly cost Ryan his life.
During a family ski holliday, Ryan heard a scream outside his apartment, when he looked, he saw an Alsatian dog attacking two girls that had been playing in the snow, with no concern for his own life he jumped over the three story balcony landing in deep snow to break his fall. Ryan fought with the dog allowing the girls to escape safely back into the building.
Ryan moved to London 1999 where he was discovered on the streets by a talent agent. Before long he had landed various major advertising campaigns and commercials, such as Invis Man of Canada, an award winning campaign for a high-powered mortgage company. Another notable commercial score was the prestigious Jaguar X type commercial campaign, directed by Spike Lee
Enrolling himself in the London International School of Speech and Drama, whose patron is 'Peter O Toole' , led him to the stage to play the notorious character of Jimmy Porter in John Osborne Look Back In Anger which was then followed by Trigorin, in Chekhov's, The Seagull.
These diverse and extreme characters led Ryan to his first international role in a USA TV series, Attila (2001/I) (TV) alongside Steven Berkoff. Dupius Films produced the comic based TV series _Largo Winch (2001) (TV)_ starring David Carradine in which his guest-starring role as Alan Powell led him to his first domestic distributed film, when he was cast opposite Jet Li Bridget Fonda and Tchéky Karyo in Luc Besson's _Kiss Of The Dragon (2001)_ which opened at number one in the US box office. His strong performance as Lupo got him the sought-after co-starring role of Dunoir in the Sony's Tri-Star released film of The Foreigner (2003) opposite Steven Seagal.
It has been a long journey the past four years since he started to make his name. The following months will see him starring in Stonelock Pictures Epic as _Gilgamesh (2004)_ , the film will co-star 'Omar Sharif ' and Peter O'Toole and Armand Assante, Robert Davey and Leonor Varela will also set the standards, that will be directed by 'Roger Christian '. The King, Gilgamesh is a great ruler from over 7000 years ago, and the oldest story in the testament. The release in 2005 will make this young mans struggle for his dream, all the more worth it.
Ryan plays an essential role in a film studio in Poland catering for film production that carries some of the largest sound stages in Europe. The Production team have been voted number one production company in Europe by a leading media magazine for the past five years. The need for him to be a part of this was to enable him to bring his own projects under his own scrutiny thus enabling him to enhance the Group and his career, as with all Stars there is a string of key people to keep that position healthy. Mark Sledziewski is Poland's finest commercials Director, who met with Ryan in 2002 on the set of The Foreigner and went on to develop a working relationship with Dave Ankenbruck who was a strategic communications Director for one of Poland's leading IT Networks. The partners have since been developing projects for the future. hide |
