Biography: Raised in Iowa and initially a pianist, Kathryn Marlowe was brought to Hollywood by Fred Astaire to join him at RKO studios. Unfortunately, Ginger Rogers' mother, an RKO wardrobe executive, put a political stop to that. After feeling underutilized by the studio, she moved back to the stage.
