He is in The School of Rock Band and also has his own band, Reverse Order. He enjoys basketball and swims for the Hurricanes. His parents are John Zirkel, an RN, and Cindy Russo an on air expert at QVC and screenwriter He has an older brother, Cruise who is also an actor and musician and plays with him in both bands. An animal lover, John has 3 cats and a dog. Ever since he was little John has rescued and helped many abandoned animals. He won the Kohls Kid award for volunteering his time to work with disabled children. John did a lot of print advertising and commercials but, this is his first film. He loves working with Ed Burns and was happy to get the chance to work with him again on Purple Violets. John was home schooled for two years but will attend High School in September 2006. Like most teenagers he loves video games, going to amusement parks and rock concerts.
