She was the daughter British Army officer, and appeared on the stage for the first time at the age of 16. Dissolutioned by Hollywood and returned to Britiain where she was often cast in aristocratic roles. Married producer Anthony Havelock-Allan, and subsequently appeared in many of his films, although the couple divorced in 1952. She then married the now notorious figure of John Profumo. She was strong when her husband became associated in the biggest political scandal Britain has seen to date. In her later years, she was devoted to her leprosy charity work. Valerie Babette Louise Hobson was the daughter of a British Naval Officer. She studied dancing at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art but at the age of 15 abandoned dancing for the stage after an attack of Scarlet Fever. A year after she divorced her first husband, she married John Profumo, then a junior minister in the Churchill government. Hobson left the stage when she married Profumo, and after his resignation from politics in the wake of a scandal in 1963 worked on behalf of mentally handicapped children and lepers.
