show all Emmy award nominated writer/director/producer Ron Oliver started his career with the cult hit "Hello Mary Lou/Prom Night Two", called "the Blue Velvet of high school horror movies" by the Los Angeles Times and chosen as an Official Selection for the Avoriaz Fantasy Film Festival. Twice nominated for the prestigious Director's Guild of America Award, he has become internationally recognized for his quirky sensibilities, blending humor, horror and subversive sexuality with a dazzling visual style. Filming around the world, Oliver traveled to London, England where he co-wrote and directed "The Tomorrow People", a TV movie for Thames/BBC. He followed that up with a stint in Paris, directing "Nancy Drew meets the Hardy Boys" for New Line, and then on to Berlin and the historic Babelsburg Studios where he moved into Marlene Dietrich's dressing room to co-write and direct the science fiction movie "SuperNova" for Showtime starring Tim Curry. He has written and/or directed pilots for MTV, Nickelodeon and The Walt Disney Company, and his television credits include such cultural landmarks as "The Chris Isaak Show", "Queer As Folk", and "Beggars and Choosers". He served as producer/writer and principal director on the massively successful kid's TV phenomenon "Goosebumps" and received an Emmy nomination for producing the critically acclaimed NBC children's series "Scout's Safari" filmed on location in South Africa. Following his highly rated ABC TV movie "Chasing Christmas", starring Tom Arnold and Leslie Jordan, Oliver was entrusted with a valued Warner Brothers franchise when he helmed "A Dennis the Menace Christmas", casting Hollywood legends Robert Wagner and Louise Fletcher in the lead roles. His most recent theatrical release, the critically acclaimed private eye thriller "Shock to the System", had its world premiere at the 2006 Outfest Film Festival in Los Angeles, and Oliver is currently working on the follow up "Ice Blues", in theaters late 2007. As an author, his short fiction has appeared in several literary collections, including "Sons of Darkness", "Flesh and the Word 3" and the Bram Stoker Award nominated "Queer Fear" as well as its Lambda Literary Award winning sequel "Queer Fear II". Several of these stories have been optioned by acclaimed indie film producer ("Twin Falls, Idaho") Steven J. Wolfe and Regent Entertainment and Oliver is currently adapting them for the big screen.
