WAVERIDERS is the previously untold story of the unlikely Irish roots of the worldwide surfing phenomenon and today’s pioneers of Irish big wave surfing. The story unfolds via the inspirational and ultimately tragic history of Irish/Hawaiian legendary waterman, George Freeth. Freeth, son of an Irishman, was responsible for the rebirth of this sport of Hawaiian kings in the early twentieth century. With its distinguished cast of world-renowned Irish, British and Irish/American surfers WAVERIDERS then journeys full-circle from Hawaii to California and back to Irish shores following Freeth’s wave of influence. This journey reaches a spectacular climax when the surfers conquer the biggest swell ever to have been ridden in Ireland catching monster waves of over fifty feet.

On call 24/7 for the past six years, three senior citizens have made history by greeting nearly one million U.S. troops at a tiny airport in Maine. Filled with unexpected turns, their uplifting and emotional journey demonstrates the meaning of community at a time when America needs it most.

Controlled primarily by a handful of multinational corporations, the global food production business - with an emphasis on the business - has as its unwritten goals production of large quantities of food at low direct inputs (most often subsidized) resulting in enormous profits, which in turn results in greater control of the global supply of food sources within these few companies. Health and safety (of the food itself, of the animals produced themselves, of the workers on the assembly lines, and of the consumers actually eating the food) are often overlooked by the companies, and are often overlooked by government in an effort to provide cheap food regardless of these negative consequences. Many of the changes are based on advancements in science and technology, but often have negative side effects. The answer that the companies have come up with is to throw more science at the problems to bandage the issues but not the root causes. The global food supply may be in crisis with lack of biodiversity, but can be changed on the demand side of the equation.

To be titled “Big River Man”, the film will follow Strel as he attempts to cover 3,375 miles in what is being billed as the world’s longest swim. Strel, who hails from Slovenia, previously completed record swims in the Danube, Mississippi and Yangzte rivers and holds several Guiness World Records.

Provocative, funny and profoundly moving, Bastardy is the
inspirational story of one man’s journey into the light. For
forty years and with infectious humour and optimism, Jack
Charles has juggled a life of crime with another successful
career - acting. Since founding the first Aboriginal theatre
company in the 1970s, Jack has performed with Australia’s most
renowned actors and directors in feature films, TV series and
hundreds of plays.

Filmmaker Amiel Courtin-Wilson follows Jack over seven years,
gradually blurring the line between director and accomplice as
Jack continually traverses the criminal and acting worlds.
However, the law finally catches up with Jack and when he
faces a jail sentence he might not survive, he is forced to
decide if he can go straight for the first time in his life.
